Indore: NRIs to invest in 6 sectors in State

Indore: The ‘Friends of MP Conclave’, which was informally kick-started at Hotel Marriot on Wednesday, received cooperation in six sectors–tourism, hospitality, education, transportation, health and jobs in foreign countries –from six non-resident Indians (NRIs). At least 513 NRIs have already reached here to participate in the Conclave.
This is maiden edition of ‘Friends of MP Conclave’ in the country. Two of its editions were held in New York (Feb 1, 2015) and the UK (in 2016). On Wednesday, visiting NRIs interacted with senior government officials including Chief Secretary BP Singh. The CS also briefed them about various schemes of the government and assured them that the state government would act promptly on their investment proposals.
Discussions were held on investments in areas like horticulture, technical and higher education, industry, tourism, urban development, MSME units and animal husbandry.
Principal secretary, tourism Hariranjan Rao held talks with the NRIs of Dubai, Canada, Oman and the US and discussed over potential investment in tourism sector in the state. In the evening, cultural programmes were held and later visitors were taken to Rajwada for ‘Light & Sound’ show and Sarafa Chat Chowpati.
5,000 jobs in Oman per year
While holding talks with the government officials, Yogendra Katiyar, Founder and CEO of WE Networks LLC Kingdom of Oman, offered to give jobs to 5,000 youth of the state every year in Oman. He said that by giving training to students of polytechnic and ITI, he would provide them jobs with a salary of Rs 60,000 PM. He also said that the training expenditure of youth would be borne by his company.
Incubation center in Indore, Bhopal
Rishi Mehta, GM of Global Communities, expressed her desire to open incubation centres in Indore and Bhopal. Sanhita Agnihotri, MD in a US hospitality firm also expressed her wish before director of technical education Virendra Kumar to provide jobs to people in the hospitality sector of USA.
Offer for marketing of veggies, dry fruits abroad
Rajendra Tiwari from the Netherlands and Akshay Jain from Dubai expressed their wish to market vegetable and dry-fruits of the state in foreign countries.
Marketing of cow products in US
Hillery Gariveltis from Boston, USA called on Ajit Kesari, principal secretary Horticulture and discussed over marketing of cow products abroad. She also discussed minutely on research of Indian cows. Lalit Garg and Yash Garg gave suggestion on start-up promotion and job creation. Sidharth Aldasani from China expressed his wish to invest in pharma sector of the state. Boston based Subhash Agrawal expressed his desire to work for cycle-riskshaw in Jabalpur through his NGO.
Formal inauguration of Conclave today
The Conclave will be inaugurated on Thursday morning. Chief Secretary BP Singh will give a detailed presentation on ‘Growth of MP in past decade’. A few NRIs and Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan will address the Conclave later.
After the tea break, a session on ‘MP meets MP’ will be organised, in which speakers will highlight their achievements. The second session will be held during post-lunch session on ‘Development goals of MP-2022’, where the CS will chair the session and Principal Secretary Vivek Agrawal will also give a presentation. The 3rd and final session on ‘Role of Friends of MP in Development of MP’ will be organised from 3.30 pm. CM’s PS SK Mishra will give a detailed presentation. The valedictory function would be held from 5 pm, which will be presided over by Industry and Commerce Minister Rajendra Shukla.
How our roads are better than Washington DC
While talking to media persons here at Brilliant Convention Centre, Chouhan again repeated that our roads particularly of ‘Super Corridor’ of the city are much better than roads of Washington DC and we will show it to the visiting NRIs. He also made it clear that the Conclave is not meant to attract investment but to build a bridge between the NRIs and the state. He said that at the end of the Conclave an agenda and a charter would be released. The agenda will be on ‘Making of New MP for Making of New India by 2022’. He said that one NRI investor has expreseed keen interest to set-up a facility of bone marrow transplant in a government hospital in Indore.
Rs 1.72L crore investments in state
Talking about success of Global Investor Summits in the state, Chouhan said that from these events investment of worth Rs 1.72 lakh crore was materialised.
