CHITTAGONG, Jan 2: Members of the Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime Unit (CTTC) and the Detective Branch (DB) of Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) in a joint drive arrested two suspected members of banned militant outfit Neo-JMB (Jamaa'tul Mujahideen Bangladesh from East Madarbari
area under Sadarghat Police Station on Monday night.  
The arrested JMB members are Asfaqur Rahman alias Abu Zahir Al-Bangali, 22, of Mymensingh district, and Rakibul Hasan Jony alias Abu Taif Al Bangali, 19, of Muradnagar upazila in Comilla district.
The law enforcers also seized eight grenades, two bombs and two suicidal vests from their possession.
AAM Humayun Kabir, deputy commissioner of the Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime Unit (CTTC), at a press conference on Tuesday said that a CTTC team raided a five-story building in Balurmat area of East Madarbari at around 11:30pm and arrested the duo with grenades, bombs and suicidal vests.
During preliminary interrogation, the arrested JMB men said they were planning to attack Sadarghat Police Station.
He said six Neo- JMB men were planning to attack Sadarghat Police station because a female police officer is now the officer-in-charge (OC) of the police station.
The JMB men rented a house in the Port city's Housing Society at South Madarbari under Sadarghat Police Station, identifying themselves as businessmen.
 "When law enforcers were searching for missing Abdullah in the area, Police unearthed the JMB den, raided it and arrested them," said Humayun Kabir.
Abdullah went missing seven-month ago from Chawk Bazar area and his family later filed a missing case with the police station concerned.
Humayun also said the militants also targeted other police stations in the city.
