Like in the rest of India, health services across Odisha remained mostly unaffected on Tuesday as the 12-hour strike started by the Indian Medical Association (IMA) on the day was put off. The IMA’s move came when the National Medical Commission (NMC) Bill was sent to a Parliament Standing Committee to look into the provisions of the Bill in detail.
Quoting Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ananth Kumar, IMA Odisha secretary Dr Janmejaya Mohapatra said the dawn-to-dusk strike call by all doctors across the State was put off following the developments in Parliament.
Reports suggest the Standing Committee has been asked to prepare and submit its report before the end of the ongoing Budget Session.
