Ajman: Alubond Tigers defeated Orakzai X1 by 65 runs in the first match of Junoon Cup Season 1.
Junoon Cup Season 1 is organised by Abdullah Azhar under the auspices of Ajman Cricket Council and title sponsors Luxe Maison Real Estate and RSM Gears.
Asked to bat first, Alubond Tigers made a shaky start by losing an early wicket of Faizan Asif on the second ball of the match.
Mohammad Boota and Abdul Shakoor revive the innings by a decent 60-run partnership in next eight overs after the loss of their early wicket.
Boota looked aggressive among the duo as he scored brilliant 40 runs off 50 balls, supported by 4 boundaries and 2 sixes, while Shakroor played the perfect second fiddle to score 21 from 28 deliveries consisting of three boundaries.
Amjad Gul managed to score only 9 runs from 11 balls after the loss of Boota and Shakoor. Yasir Kaleem carried on the good work with an impressive 31 runs from 24 balls with the help of four fours and a six before Fayyaz Ahmed gave the finishing touches with his camieo innings of 31 from 12 balls (3x4, 2x6). Alubond Tigers managed to reach 163 runs for the loss of seven in their allotted 20 overs. For Orakzai X1, Luqman Khan and Junaid Siddique were the main wicket-takers.
Chasing a stiff target, Orakzai openers Ansar Khan and Waseem Rana added 22 runs in just two overs. Ansar did the bulk of scoring firing 46 from only 15 deliveries including three hits to the fence and five over it.
