The president of the United States of America bragged on Twitter about the size of his nuclear weapons.
North Korean leader Kim Jong Un claimed in his annual address on Monday that the country's nuclear capabilities could hit the United States, and that a nuclear button was always on his desk.
"The entire United States is within range of our nuclear weapons, a nuclear button is always on my desk. This is reality, not a threat," Kim said in the address.
In response, Trump tweeted that his nuclear button is "bigger & more powerful" than Kim's.
Seriously.
North Korean Leader Kim Jong Un just stated that the “Nuclear Button is on his desk at all times.” Will someone from his depleted and food starved regime please inform him that I too have a Nuclear Button, but it is a much bigger & more powerful one than his, and my Button works!

The tweet also laid into the poor economic conditions in North Korea, and taunted Kim by saying "my button works."
Although President Trump does have the capabilities of launching a nuclear attack, the button on his desk actually brings him a Diet Coke, according to an April report from the Financial Times. Trump reportedly consumes nearly a dozen Diet Cokes a day, according to the New York Times.

The internet was quick to point how ridiculously petty and simultaneously terrifying Trump's tweet was.

Oh my. All I can think about is how this tweet will barely register now because people have gotten used to it. https://t.co/ZC4x1opyfL

“Mine is bigger than yours,” but with nuclear triggers that would annihilate millions of innocent men, women and children. https://t.co/346G9uYL2v

The president just threatened a nuclear strike while live-tweeting a Fox News segment.

Let’s try not to be concerned that Trump got tangled up in a button measuring metaphor https://t.co/DqiXhc6v73

So...this is how 2018 starts. And maybe ends.
