Oxford woman injured in I-290 crash in Auburn

AUBURN - An Oxford woman was injured when her car collided with a tractor-trailer Wednesday morning on Interstate 290.

The westbound 2006 Nissan became lodged underneath the truck's trailer near Exit 8, and the 45-year-old driver had to be extricated by firefighters. The Auburn Fire Rescue Department reported the woman suffered injuries that were not life-threatening.

State police said the 41-year-old tractor-trailer driver, a resident of New Brunswick, Canada, was not hurt. The car was towed, and two lanes were closed on the highway as authorities investigated. The crash remains under investigation, state police said. The crash occurred around 11:30 a.m., and crews finally left the area around 1 p.m.
