LETTERS TO THE EDITOR

Looking ahead

| | Rampur

Sir — This refers to the editorial, ‘Don’t look back in anger (January 1). You have nicely summarized whole of the outgoing year leaving us with the sage suggestion to not recall the caustic memories gone by but instead look forward to amelioration during the year ahead.

Of course, the world has undergone a revolutionary change with state-of-the-art technologies working in every walk of life for the better.

Simultaneously, the misuse of sophisticated technology has caused the wild spread of pseudo information resulting in huge social as well as political decadence at home while the attacks on the media culminating, in some cases, in murders of journalists and lynching of common men, have left an adverse impact on the country's liberal ethos. However, following the adage ‘let bygones be bygones’, we must strive to work unitedly for nation-building sans traces of doom and gloom or acrimony. Let us remain hopeful that the year2018 will bring us more opportunities and a level playing field for all citizens.
