Five reasons why you should watch Insidious The Last Key

Insidious has been one of the most loved franchises alongside The Conjuring in recent times among horror fans. Although the films have not found favour with critics, they have been successful in terms of box office. Horror does sell. James Wan, who has also directed both The Conjuring films, directed the first two Insidious films. After he left, the film has explored the Further, around which the franchise's mythology revolves. In The Last Key, the fourth iteration of the franchise that is coming this week, Lin Shaye's character Elise Rainier comes to investigate a supernatural phenomenon in her old home. Why should you watch this film? Here's why.

Lin Shaye as Elise Rainier: Lin's character has been a mainstay for the franchise since the beginning. She serves the same purpose the Warrens serve in the Conjuring franchise - to kill the things that make stuff bump at night. Lin has done great work in the films and she is one of the main reasons the franchise still has appeal.

Tucker and Specs: The trusty old sidekicks provide the comic relief in Insidious films amid all the misery and horror and it is nice to have a little comedy when things get too hot.

Director Adam Robitel: Robitel is an old hand at horror. He directed The Taking of Deborah Logan and also co-wrote Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension.

Deep mythology: Insidious series is so interesting because of its deep mythology and elements like the Further, astral plane and so on. The Last Key promises to explore further into the Further (sorry!), so we may get new insights and learn interesting things. It is also set years before any of the films.

Classic, old-school horror: The trailer of Insidious: The Las Key has painted a film that is not trying to do anything radically new but instead giving a slight twist to the genre. It would release on January 5.
