R-ANT: Middleton is not a fan of reality TV

The war hero, who’s been in the Special Boat Service, 9 Parachute Squadron Royal and the Royal Marines, hates reality TV.

Despite having served in Afghanistan, Macedonia and Northern Ireland, it seems his real “enemy” is back home on the box.

He is sick of people on TV crying over breakups, blurting out sob stories and whingeing about their problems.

Speaking at the launch of the new series of SAS: Who Dares Wins, hard-man Ant said: “I don’t like reality TV. Your Big Brothers and Towie... stuff like that.

“I don’t like reality TV”

“I’ve got nothing against the people, good luck to them. But I just don’t want to hear about other people’s problems.

“I’ve got my own problems to deal with, my own life to lead, so why the hell would I want to know about anyone else’s?”

And despite a tempting offer, he won’t be doing Strictly either.

He said: “I’m not that kind of high-end, glossy character.

“I’m in my area, a bit rugged round the edges and willing to strip myself down to my bare bones to succeed and fail. All that glitz, glamour, the sequins, I’ll leave for celebrities to do.”

The programme sees 25 “recruits” put through gruelling physical and psychological challenges – like the ones Ant went through in his career – to see if they would be cut out for the SAS.

● It launches this Sunday at 9pm on Channel 4.

TOUGH GUY: Ant wants Tom Hardy to play him in a film

I want Tom to be me

Ant has made a career out of being a tough guy.So it’s no surprise he wants Tom Hardy to play him if ever there were a movie of his life.

Ant said: “Tom Hardy would be a good shout because I think he’s been through the hardships himself, he’d understand it.

“He’s played a soldier in Dunkirk so he would have the military knowledge.

“I think if I gave him a script of my life it would probably be one of those four- or five-hour movies.

“I’m only 36 but I’ve always said that if my time’s up then I’ll go having lived a full life because I’ve done so much.”

PACKING A PUNCH: Identical twins Matt and Chris from Romford, east London

Brothers' twin arms

A pair of fist-swinging identical twins have signed up for the new series of SAS: Who Dares Wins.

They are personal trainer Matt and his business manager brother Chris, both 28, from Romford, east London.

During one of the challenges the recruits had to choose to face someone in the boxing ring.

And Ant revealed: “They stood toe-to-toe in the ring for a fight and Chris thought it was right to choose his brother as his opponent.

“I don’t think I would have chosen my brother, I’d rather see my brother fight someone else. It’s an interesting combo, that.”
