PHILADELPHIA -- On Tuesday, Eagles head coach Doug Pederson insisted that quarterback Nick Foles was still the starter despite his recent struggles.
On Wednesday, he backed it up.
The Eagles returned to practice on Wednesday, and as expected, Foles got the starting quarterback reps, multiple players told NJ Advance Media. He did not split reps with backup Nate Sudfeld.
Foles getting the first-team reps is newsworthy after Pederson left the door open to potentially making a change during the team's playoff game if needed.
"It is hard to say right now until I am in that situation, honestly. It is a one game season," Pederson said. "It is hard to be in desperation mode, but if you are in that mode, who knows. But I know it isn't about one guy. It is about 11 players on offense, defense and special teams. A lot of factors go into winning a game."
Foles has struggled since taking over for injured starter Carson Wentz, and went just 4-of-11 for 39 yards and one interception in the team's final game of the season against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 17.

Sudfeld, however, played very well when he came into the game against Dallas, going 19-of-23 for 134 yards and 22 rushing yards. His arm looked stronger, he looked much more mobile and he was able to get the offense going when Foles wasn't.
Going forward, however, it is clear the Eagles intend to stick with Foles as their starter. It is also obvious that they plan to ratchet up the intensity level at practice, as they wore pads at practice on Wednesday, something Foles feels will help him going forward.
"Today was a great practice. We flew around. We got better today. 100% got better," Foles said. "We got after it, moving around, ,moving fast. Pads are different. Throwing in pads, moving around in pads. I feel very strongly about our work today."
