Quilt of Valor honor

Commander Rochel Hayman of Scottsdale Post 210 of the Jewish War Veterans, center, is presented with a quilt by Bob Bernal, Rebecca Bernal and Cheryl Vorin on Dec. 17. The Bernals and Vorin are members of Quilts of Valor, an organization whose mission is to “cover service members and veterans touched by war with comforting and healing Quilts of Valor.”

Students from Temple Beth Sholom of the East Valley’s religious school play dreidel with residents of Kivel Campus of Care on Dec. 17. Along with spending quality time with the residents, the students sang some traditional Chanukah songs and distributed Chanukah cards.

Giving to others

Members of Beth El Congregation take part in Mitzvah Day on Dec. 25. Volunteers packed more than 100 sack lunches for Justa Center and collected household goods and toiletries for the Men’s Respite Shelter.
