W2 Professorship for Numerical Solution of Stochastic Differential Equations

We are seeking an outstanding scientist in the field of Numerical Mathematics with preference for uncertainty quantification, in particular in view of numerical methods for stochastic differential equations. The Mathematics Institute is in the process of a change of generations and therefore we explicitly encourage young researchers with the appropriate expertise to apply for this position. The scope of duties includes teaching in the area of numerical mathematics at all levels. Furthermore, the successful candidate is supposed to teach basic undergraduate courses in mathematics for students of mathematics, physics and computer science (in German). Active participation in administration is expected. Collaboration and engagements with the research activities of the faculty are highly welcome. The Faculty of Natural Sciences II (Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics) focuses on research and teaching in the area of “nanostructured materials” with the main topics of “functional solid interfaces” and “nanostructured polymers”, together with the areas of “photovoltaics/renewable energies” and “bio-relevant materials and molecules”. We expect our new colleague to participate in joint activities and to further develop interdisciplinary collaboration.

The requirements for employment follow § 35 of the Hochschulgesetz Sachsen-Anhalt.
The Martin Luther University is an equal opportunity employer and aims to increase the number of female faculty members. Applications from women are therefore explicitly encouraged.
