Shares of Advanced Micro Devices and Nvidia Corp. soared on Wednesday after a news report about a major security flaw in rival Intel Corp.'s chips. The Register, a technology news site, reported Tuesday that the bug makes computers with the Intel chip vulnerable to hacking. Intel shares dropped as much as 5.5 percent on Wednesday before recovering slightly. The vulnerability means Apple and Microsoft Corp. will have to release patches for their operating systems.
