Dangerousness hearing set for 4 accused of Auburn kidnapping

AUBURN - Four people who allegedly held a teenager against her will will be in court Wednesday so a judge can determine whether there are any conditions that can be imposed to ensure public safety if they are released.

The four were charged after a third party alerted police on Dec. 27 that there may be an incident involving a kidnapped juvenile at 27 White Terrace in Auburn, police said.

As they investigated, police learned that a 16-year-old girl allegedly had been taped to a chair and held against her will after the suspects began to believe that she had set up a home invasion at the house earlier in the day, court documents state.

The girl told police she was given a blunt laced with Xanax and was raped by 19-year-old Christopher Lugo, who lives at the home. Investigators found discarded condoms at the house, court documents state. The girl also alleged that her hair had been shaved. Court documents show that a bag of what police believe is human hair was also recovered.

Mr. Lugo and another occupant of the home, Krystal Lugo, 23, along with Yariel Torres-Abee, 22, of 45 Taft St., Southbridge, and Yuleny Ortiz, 19, of 19 Chestnut St., Auburn, were with the girl at the home, where police said there had been an unreported home invasion earlier in the day.

During the alleged home invasion, two masked men forced their way into the house brandishing guns and fired three rounds inside the home. A police report indicates the gunmen may have been looking for marijuana they believed was inside. The report states that Ms. Lugo was angry because her child, who is less than 2 years old, was inside the home during the alleged shooting.

Eventually, the four began to suspect the 16-year-old had arranged the home invasion and they took her cellphone and used duct tape to secure her to a chair, court documents state. They held a machete to her throat, encouraging one another to press it harder when she lied, according to the police report.

The victim told police she was punched, kicked and burned with a cigarette by a woman named "Kate," the police report states. Officers also wrote that there are other suspects in the case and that it is still under investigation.

The four were arraigned last week and held without bail pending the outcome of Wednesday's dangerousness hearing.
