Storm Eleanor LIVE: Travel CHAOS as strong winds cause road closures and power outages
STORM Eleanor has made landfall in Ireland, battering the west coast with huge wave and strong winds.

Storm Eleanor is expected to pass over Ireland and the UK today and tomorrow, with forecasters warning of dangerous conditions.
Winds of up to 80 miles per hour have been predicted, with amber and yellow warning issued in the UK.
Waves could also cause dangerous conditions in coastal areas.

1.20am: Part of the A66 closed to high sided vehicles due to strong winds
A66 between A685 Brough and A67 has been closed for high sided vehicles due to strong winds
11.50pm: More roads closed and an overturned vehicle on A1M entry slip road
Two lanes on the M25 going clockwise between Junction 17 and Junction 18 have been closed due to a fallen tree.
Meanwhile, the A14 is currently closed in both directions between J56 and J57 due to high winds being experienced on Suffolk’s iconic Orwell Bridge.
An overturned vehicle has also closed all lanes on the A1M northbound entry slip at junction J4.
Met Office forecasters have warned over “danger to life” conditions and amber warning has been issued parts of the country.

10.00pm: Severn Crossing closed
The Severn Cross has joined the list of casualties this evening.
Highways England said: “The M48 Severn Crossing in South Gloucestershire / Monmouthshire is closed in both directions between J1 and J2 due to high winds.
“Motorists heading towards the area are advised to use the M4 Second Severn Crossing for South Wales.
“Traffic heading towards the area are advised to allow additional travelling time and consider alternative routes for their journeys.”
9.50pm: UK road closures
Storm Eleanor has led to several road closures in the UK.
The Dartford Crossing bridge will be closed from 11pm tonight due to high winds.
The A14 between J56 and J57 in Suffolk will also be closed overnight.
Highway England said: “A14 J56-J57 (Orwell Bridge) in Suffolk is in the process of being closed overnight tonight for safety reasons, due to high winds.
“The bridge will reopen tomorrow; We'll let you know when this will be. Updates to follow tomorrow morning."
9.30pm: Stranded drivers rescued
Several cars have been swept away at the Galway town of Oranmore.
RTE is reporting several drivers were rescued from a raised roundabout in the town.
The Shannon Coast Guard was called to the scene but was later stood down.
8.55pm: Thousands without power
More than 50,000 people in the west of Ireland are without power after Storm Eleanor crashed in from the Atlantic.
The Electricity Supply Board said homes in County Mayo, County Galway and County Leitrim were affected.
8.50pm: Football matches abandoned
Three football matches in Northern Ireland have been adandoned due to Storm Eleanor.
Cliftonville versus Ballymena, Glentoran versus Warrenpoint and Ards versus Glenavon in the Northern Irish Premier Division have been called off.
Cliftonville tweeted: "Match abandoned here at Solitude due to adverse weather, the referee has called off the game due to health and safety! #SafeJourneyHome.
"Assuming Solitude hasn't been blown away, Cliftonville will return to action in Saturday's Tennent's Irish Cup Fifth Round with Warrenpoint Town."
8.45pm: Galway battered by Storm Eleanor
The Irish city of Galway is suffering the full force Storm Eleanor this evening.
The city on Ireland’s west coast has been hit with strong winds and huge waves.
Parts of the city have been submerged by the storm surge, with many cars submerged.
And some people are risking their lives to drive in the conditions, with one video showing a mini battling against waves on the shorefront.
