Apple’s 6.5-inch iPhone X Plus tipped to sport an LG OLED display

Apple is sourcing high-resolution edge-to-edge OLED screens for the oft-rumoured 6.5-inch ‘Plus’ variant of its flagship iPhone X from South Korean manufacturer LG, reveals a new report.

The Cupertino-based firm is expected to divide the display-making duties between LG and Samsung – the former will manufacture the panel for the iPhone X Plus, while the latter will continue to provide the screen for the regular iPhone X.

There’s a good chance the next-generation iPhone X and all-new iPhone X Plus will launch without the ‘X’ moniker, however.

Apple revealed last year that the iPhone X is a commemorative smartphone that will set the design standard for all future iPhones, so this year’s iPhone X and iPhone X Plus could, in fact, be branded the iPhone 9 and iPhone 9 Plus.

We shouldn’t have to wait much longer to find out what the company has up its sleeve, as the report notes that LG could begin shipping OLEDs for the so-called iPhone X Plus in second-half of 2018, so an influx of leaks are presumably right around the corner.

Until then, we’ll have to rely on KGI Securities Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo’s prediction that Apple is working on a 6.5-inch iPhone X Plus, which will exist alongside a revamped model of the iPhone X and a more budget-friendly LCD iPhone.
