19-year-old sexually assaults minor in city

Gunga police have nabbed a 19-year-old youth for sexually assaulting a 16-year-old girl at Bhainsakheda village on December 31.

Police said that the victim had gone to near forest where the accused Jitendra Ahirwar sexually assaulted her.

The victim reported the incident to her mother who found her in the forest when they have gone to the forest for collecting wood logs.

The two approached the police and lodged a complaint against the accused. In her complaint victim stated that she along with her mother had gone to the forest to collect wood log where the accused stopped the victim after her mother went ahead and was sexually assaulted. Her mother returned only to found victim in state of shock and reported the incident to her mother.

Both the victim and accused belonged to same village and were acquainted.

The victim told the police that the accused had sexually assaulted her around a week ago in the forest area near Bhainsakheda village and told to keep mum and threatened her of life. On Dec 31 the accused again did the atrocity.

Based on the complaint after the preliminary investigation the police registered a case under section 376 of the IPC and section 7 and 8 of the Protection of Children against Sexual Offences Act-2012 and nabbed the accused.

The accused was sent under judicial custody after he was produced in the court on Tuesday. The accused works as labour and his crime record would be searched in the further investigation.
