Storm Eleanor path map: Where is Storm Eleanor NOW? Met Office map shows destructive path

THE LATEST Met Office map shows the eye of Storm Eleanor moving out to sea after battering the UK with up to 100mph gales.

Storm Eleanor prompted “danger to life warnings” overnight as winds hurled debris, whipped up destructive waves and knocked out mobile phone signals.

But the Met Office has now shared a map showing that Eleanor is moving across the North Sea away from Britain today.

The national weather service tweeted: “The centre of Storm Eleanor is now moving out into the North Sea, but it will remain very windy in many areas.

“Yellow warnings remain in force.”

The Met Office’s more serious amber warnings have now expired but the yellow warnings remain in place across much of the country until 6pm.

The weather warning map on the left below shows that the warning covers the whole of England and Wales as well as parts of Northern Ireland and Scotland.

The flood map on the right shows where more than 50 flood warnings and more than 100 flood alerts remain in place across the UK this morning.

The Environment Agency said: “High winds and large waves on the coast still pose a risk of flooding, so please take extreme care.”

Storm Eleanor map: Where are the latest Storm Eleanor warnings?

More widespread disruption is expected on Wednesday after the storm swept across the country overnight carrying heavy rain, hail and dramatic thunder and lightning.

Tens of thousands of homes and businesses across the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland suffered power outages as they bore the brunt of the storm.

The Met Office chief forecaster said that the gales would clear eastern England during the course of Wednesday morning.

The forecaster said: "Wednesday daytime sees a very blustery day, with squally gusts accompanying showers in many areas.

"Throughout this period, gusts of 60-70 mph are likely along exposed coasts, with the more exposed locations seeing gusts close to 80 mph. Inland gusts exceeding 60 mph are possible."
