CHITTAGONG: A tribunal has awarded double life term imprisonment to a man and life term to his accomplice for gang-raping a woman at Dabolmuring in Chittagong in 2009.
Judge of the Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal-2 of Chittagong Motaher Ali delivered the verdict on Wednesday (January 03).
The court awarded double life term for Rafiqul Islam Prokash Mamun, while life term for Zahirul Haque.
Rafiqul is son of Azim Hawlader of Jharnapara of Dabolmuring in Chittagong, and Zahirul is son of Shafi Alam of Charjabbar in Noakhali.
The two convicts are on the run.
The court also fined Rafiqul Tk 40,000, in default, six months more imprisonment, and Tk. 20,000 for Zahirul, in default, three months more imprisonment.
According to the case statement, the convicts forcibly raped a woman at a hideout on January 20 in 2009. The woman was abducted by them before the gang rape.
