Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat opened various works and made announcements after inaugurating the Krishi Mahotsav- 2018 and Vikas Mela at the Ramlila Ground in Uttarkashi on Tuesday.
Addressing the gathering on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that problems being faced in the health services in Uttarakhand were taken up as a challenge by the State Government. Focusing first on the appointment of doctors in Government hospitals, the Government took the stern step of discontinuing the attachment system which had been continuing so far. With this decision, the doctors have been sent to the places where they had been posted in the past. Further, notices had been issued to doctors asking them to join their duties in the district hospitals by December 31, 2017. Many of the doctors have responded to the notice by joining their posts. The Chief Minister said that doctors will be posted in all the district hospitals of the state within the next two months. Regarding the all-weather road project, he said that the Government’s target is that work under this project should reach its final stage by 2019-20. The pace of execution of work in this project will be picked up during February- March this year. Referring to agriculture and animal husbandry, he asked the farmers to calculate how much they could profit by taking up animal husbandry along with traditional agriculture. Referring to bee-culture, he said that there is high demand in the States for honey harvested in mountainous regions. The farmers will be able to derive maximum benefit if such honey is supplied to large cities. Rawat said that to generate employment, the state government will open growth centres in 670 Nyay Panchayats of which 15 centres will be for readymade garments.
Speaking on the eve, the State Agriculture Min Subodh Uniyal said that the State had so far taken more than 70 decisions in the interests of the farmers. Agriculture will have to be encouraged in order to stop migration, he stressed.
