Both Herrera and Blind could be in their last few months at Old Trafford with the Catalan club keen on the pair.

Spanish outlet Sport claim Ernesto Valverde is keen for a reunion with Herrera after the two worked together at Athletic Bilbao.

Blind would also provide good versatility for Barca as he can play at left-back, as a central defender or in midfield if required.

The reports also claim Mesut Ozil and Leon Goretzka are possible options for Valverde with negotiations for the pair also free to proceed with.

The Arsenal ace is an attractive option as he would be able to play in the Champions League due to the Gunners' absence from the competition.

Valverde has admitted he is open to adding to his squad this month.

“Regarding the January window obviously we are who we are and we are open to becoming even better,” he said.

“We know that we have to compete in order to be the best.

“In the same way that other clubs worry about improving their squad so do we to an extent.

“When that happens, we'll make an announcement.”
