Marrakech, Morocco’s top tourist hub saw a record number of 2.5 million tourists with a surge of 20 percent as compared with 2016.
The city reflected 7 million nights spent for tourism purpose rsing by 18 percent from 2016 as stated by the spokesperson of Marrakech regional tourism center Abdellatif Abouricha.
Tourism reached its peak on the New Year’s Eve as all hotels in the city were packed resulting in significantly increase in November and December of 2017.
It was reported that German tourists rose by 56 percent in the country’s top tourist hub, and French visitors with 19 percent growth it was followed by Spanish, Scandinavian and local tourists.
Increase in the number of flights to the “Red City,” another name of Marrakech led to better results showing growth from 245 flights weekly in 2016 to 361 in 2017. It is expected Marrakech will continue growth in 2018 and attract around 2.7 million tourists.
