GAYA: Altogether 13 cops including three junior police officers have been suspended for dereliction of duty in Bodh Gaya. The cops were deployed at different points in Bodh Gaya on a month-long duty during Buddhist spiritual leader Dalai Lama's Bodh Gaya sojourn. Earlier, on 1 January, Dalai Lama arrived in Bodh Gaya to offer prayers for world peace and deliver sermons to his thousands of followers who have arrived in the holy city from different parts of the world only to participate in the religious leader's spiritual discourse.

During surprise inspection by senior officers on Tuesday, the cops were found absent from their point of deputation. SSP Garima Malik ordered the suspension of the cops on Wednesday. Besides the three junior officers, at least five women constables too have been put under suspension.

The suspended officers are sub inspector (SI) Chhotu Prasad Chaudhary, SI Manibhushan Paswan and ASI Lalan Rajak. Whereas SI Chaudhary was deputed at Kalchakra Maidan, the other officers were deputed at the emergency exit and parking point.

The five women constables are Shweta Kumari, Anjali Sharma, Shobha Kumari, Poonam Azad and Anjali Smita.
