Elsie Winter, 90, of Inman, passed away at 9:56 a.m. Jan. 2, 2018 while in the company of family members, at Pleasant View Home, Inman.

Elsie was born in Buhler on Aug. 2, 1927, a daughter of Kathryn (Epp) and Abe Martin Fehdrau.

Elsie attended schools in Buhler and graduated from Buhler High School, Buhler in 1946.

She was a member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, McPherson, where she was a member of the LWML, was a quilter for Lutheran World Relief, was an active member of the Kitchen Committee and served her church in many capacities through the years.

Elsie was a homemaker and she took great pride in providing for her family in this manner. She also worked as a secretary for Alliance Life Insurance Company for 24 and 1/2 years.

Elsie was a member of the Amity Club, Birthday Club, and the Neighborhood Card Club. Elsie enjoyed hand crafting, counted cross stitch, embroidery, cooking and baking, especially peppernuts and bierrocks.

Elsie was united in marriage to Arnold “Arnie” Winter on Oct. 10, 1948 at the Hebron Mennonite Church, Buhler. Arnie died on April 12, 1999.

She is survived by her children, Donna Maurer, and her husband Bill of Inman, and Gary Winter and his wife Vivian, of Inman; her five grandchildren Barbara Nelson (Greg), Bill Maurer (Keri), Becky Knackstedt (Kendall), Ashley Bowman and Shane Bowman; her nine great-grandchildren Bradley Maurer, Kristen Knackstedt, Tanner Knackstedt, Jackson Nelson, Lauren Maurer, Sydney Maurer, Kadence Welch, Talon Welch and Owen Dirks; other relatives and a host of friends

She was preceded in death by her parents, Abe and Kathryn Fehdrau; her husband, Arnie Winter and her brother, Stanley Fehdrau.

Friends are invited to call from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 4 at Glidden - Ediger Chapel, McPherson.

The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 5 at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, McPherson, with the Rev. Dale Dumperth.

The burial will be at the McPherson Cemetery, McPherson.
