Hubballi: Activists of the Malaprabha Mahadayi Kendra Okkoota Samiti blocked the Pune-Bengaluru National Highway for more than an hour here on Wednesday, demanding the implementation of Kalasa-Banduri project.
Led by Samiti president Lokanath Hebsur, activists from Hubballi and Navalagund raised slogans against the governments of Goa and Karnataka as well as the Centre for failing to end the Mahadayi water dispute.
Hebsur told reporters that the dispute is not resolved due to the negligence of the Centre and the governments of Karnataka and Goa. "Both the Congress and BJP have been passing the buck to each other. No party is willing to resolve the farmers' problems," he said. Farmer leaders Babajaan Mudhol, Sanjeev Dummakanal and Suresh Patil were present.
