MUNSHIGANJ: At least five people sustained bullet injuries as two groups of Awami League engaged in a clash in Munshiganj sadar upazila.
Some 50 cocktails exploded and several houses were vandalized reportedly.
The clash continued in several phases, since the morning on Wednesday (January 3).
The injured are identified as Liza, 30, Mim, 15, Khaleda Akter, 35, Salan, 35 and Sajal Hossain. They have been admitted to Munshiganj sadar hospital.
Sadar police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Alamgir Hossain told Banglanews that supporters of Mollakandi UP Chairman Mohsina Haque Kolpona and Former chairman also Sadar thana AL unit Joint Secretary Ripon Patwary engaged in the clash, over establishing supremacy in the area.
Some five people received gunshots in cocktail explosion and shootout.
A foreign pistol was recovered from the spot.
However, police have been deployed in the area to bring the situation under control.
