Looking for talent in Uttarakhand in the world of beauty and honing it to perform at the world stage, participant of World Skill event held in Abu Dhabi recently came to Haridwar. The founder of Mumbai based beauty school, Vaishali K Shah shared her experiences with the local beauty experts. A week after getting felicitated by Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan for coaching Indian contestant in world skills competition in Abu Dhabi, Vaishali is on a skilling mission conducting seminars all over the country.
Speaking to this correspondent she said, “A famous adage used in earlier times was- padhogey nahin to hajjam ban jaoge (If you dont study you will become a barber) but now hair styling is a dignified profession.” She said one must start planning in the first month of the year and by July 15 when the India Skill competition is held one is ready to contest.
Notably, World Skills India is an initiative of the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship. NSDC, through its World Skills India initiative, has been leading the country's participation at World Skills International competitions acting as a global platform where youths, educators, industries and governments can meet, learn and develop skills together.
Looking for manufacturing industries who make beauty products, Vaishali visited some of the industries in SIIDCUL and asked those in the cosmetics line to download modules from the Skill India website and start applying from the first month of the year. Regarding the prospects in Skill India initiative she said, “Applications are sent at state level too.
