(MENAFN - Jordan News Agency) Amman, Jan. 3 (Petra)-Speaker of the Lower House of Parliament, Atef Tarawneh, said inter-parliamentary Arab coordination is crucial to address joint issues away from political stances.

During talks with Tunisian Ambassador to Amman, Khaled Al-Suhaili, on Wednesday, Tarawneh added the world links the refugee ordeal to Syrians solely, however, Jordan has already hosted diverse refugee influxes, namely the Palestinian, Iraqi, Libyan, and Yemeni newcomers, who are awaiting a rare chance to return to their homelands.

"Their total figure now stands at 4 million; Jordan has exhibited respect to int'l law and exerted relentless efforts to host refugees, regrettably the int'l community has not assumed its responsibilities towards this key issue and left Jordan alone in this longstanding battle," he said.

" What the int'l community offers Amman is just 30 percent of what it offers the refugees. The Kingdom is busy on combating terrorism and battling the grave ramifications of the Middle-East volatilities," he underscored.

The closure of Jordan's eastern, western and northern borders exacerbated the situation, he said, and highlighted the army's tremendous efforts to protect national sovereignty in a turbulent region.

He reiterated Jordan's stance calling for a peaceful settlement to the Syrian crisis that safeguards its territorial integrity. The Tunisian envoy, for his part, lauded Jordan's "moderate diplomacy" in mobilizing efforts to counter the U.S. administration's decision to relocate its embassy to the occupied Jerusalem and to recognize this holy city as the capital of Israel.
