Accident kills female soldier

A female soldier was killed and 2 other female soldiers were injured in a road accident that occurred in Ovita on the Kirindiwela - Hanwella main road this morning (Jan 03).

Police said a three-wheeler which was heading towards Pugoda from Kirindiwela had collided head-on with a tipper when it had attempted to overtake a SLTB bus.

The 3 female soldiers, members of the Panagoda Army Camp band, who were travelling in the ill-fated three-wheeler, were admitted to Wathupitiwala Hospital with critical injuries.

One of them passed away at the hospital.
