St. Joseph’s sophomore guard Charlie Brown Jr., who suffered a fractured left wrist in October, will be sidelined for at least three more weeks, the Hawks’ basketball program announced Tuesday.
Brown, who was the Hawks’ fourth-leading scorer last season with a 12.8-point average and led the team in three-point baskets with 71, was examined last week but doctors ordered that his wrist remain in a cast because the scaphoid bone, which he fractured, is continuing to heal slowly.
Brown will undergo another examination in three weeks.
“Charlie’s long-term well-being is our top priority,” St. Joseph’s coach Phil Martelli said. “All decisions about his playing status will be made with that in mind. Charlie, like Fresh Kimble, remains an active member of our team and is fulfilling all of his obligations as a St. Joseph’s student and as a teammate.”
Kimble, a junior guard, broke the fifth metatarsal in his left foot in the Hawks’ season opener in November and is out for the season. He broke the same bone last Feb. 11, forcing him to miss the last seven games of 2016-17.
