DHAKA: The Supreme Court accepted the gazette notification that issued on lower court judges’ conduct rules, in an order Wednesday (January 3).
A five-member Appellate Division bench, led by acting Chief Justice Abdul Wahhab Miah, passed the order.
Attorney General Mahbubey Alam was present at the court.
Earlier, on Tuesday (January 2), the apex court adjourned the hearing till Wednesday. Prior to that, January 2 was fixed for hearing on the same rules.
On December 11, the government issued the gazette notification on service rules and conduct for lower court judges.
However, following a verdict in a case known as ‘Masdar Hossain Case’ in 1999, the state was given instructions to introduce the gazette.
Now the case will continue as the court issued an order of mandamus, said Attorney General Murad Reza Wednesday.
The state side, however, was earlier granted times in several occasions to publish the gazette.
