India gears up for Oil Conservation Week celebrations
The Petroleum and Natural Gas Ministry and Petroleum Conservation Research Association will jointly coordinate the celebration of Oil Conservation Week from January 4 to 10 to raise the awareness about conservation of the petroleum products across the country.

Besides common people, the petroleum products are being used by power plants, industries, fertilizer plants, commercial ventures, transport system and so many more enterprises. Also, the demand for both petroleum and natural gas is increasing day by day but  it has also given rise to pollution affecting adversely the living and natural environments.

Various oil conservation campaigns, awareness building through media, knowledge enhancement through seminars and training programmes are going to be organised throughout the country in which educational institutions are going to participate.

People will be urged to go for tree plantation pollution caused by use of petroleum products and reduce the wasteful use of oil and gas.

According to Bill Nye, burning carbon-based substances like oil, gas, and especially coal, produces billions of tons of extra carbon dioxide each year along with methane gas emission which is trapping more of the Sun's energy as heat. And, all this is leading to global warming and climate change that are threatening life on our planet.
