Tiger Zinda Hai replaces 3 Idiots as seventh highest worldwide grosser, here’s the full list

Tiger Zinda Hai - Rs 423.59 crore
When it comes to box office performance, 2017 was pretty dismal for Bollywood releases. Save Salman Khan's Tiger Zinda Hai. The last big release of the year is breaking one record after another with its stupendous performance at the box office. The Salman Khan-Katrina Kaif starrer has already raked in Rs 326.60 crore at the domestic market. In the overseas market, Tiger Zinda Hai is about to hit the coveted Rs 100 crore mark with its collection of Rs 96.99 crore. Therefore, the film's total earnings stand at a whopping Rs 423.59 crore which makes it the seventh highest all-time worldwide grosser replacing Aamir Khan's 2009 release 3 Idiots. The fact that Tiger Zinda Hai has had just ten days of run at the box office till now makes fans all the more hopeful of the film's success in the future. Chennai Express – Rs 424.54 crore
Wouldn't a highest grossing list be incomplete without the mention of Shah Rukh Khan? Bollywood's Baadshah grabs the sixth spot with his 2013 release Chennai Express. Helmed by Rohit Shetty, the rom-com also starred Deepika Padukone in the lead role. At the Indian market, Chennai Express had collected Rs 227.13 crore. After its release, Chennai Express had become the highest worldwide grosser ever replacing 3 Idiots till the title was taken over by Dhoom 3 later.

Dhoom 3 – Rs 556.74 crore
The third installment of the popular action franchise Dhoom starred Aamir Khan in the lead role. Written and directed by Vijay Krishna Acharya, Dhoom 3 is the fifth highest worldwide grosser of all time currently with its collection of Rs 556.74 crore. At the Indian market, it had earned Rs 284.27 crore in its run at the box office. Dhoom 3 also starred Katrina Kaif, Abhishek Bachchan, Uday Chopra and Jackie Shroff in supporting roles.

Sultan – Rs 585 crore
Salman Khan's sports drama Sultan grabs the fourth spot on the list. Helmed by Ali Abbas Zaffar, Sultan also starred Anushka Sharma in the lead role. It was produced by Aditya Chopra under the Yash Raj Films banner and it talks about Sultan Ali, a wrestler from Haryana whose successful wrestling career creates a rift in his personal life. The film had made a staggering Rs 300.45 crores domestically.

Bajrangi Bhaijaan – Rs. 629.39 crore
Salman Khan's 2015 release Bajrangi Bhaijaan was much loved by audiences for Bhaijaan's adorable chemistry with child actor Harshaali Malhotra. The Kabir Khan film had collected a total of Rs 320.34 crore in the Indian market making it the year's biggest hit. The plot revolves around Salman who stars as Bajrangi, a staunch Hindu devotee, who embarks on a journey to take a mute six-year-old girl (Malhotra) back to her parents and her hometown to Pakistan from India.

PK – Rs 769.89 crore
Another Aamir Khan film on the list. This sci-fi comedy starred Anushka Sharma and Sushant Singh Rajput in the lead roles besides Aamir. PK's Indian collection is at Rs 340.80 crore while the worldwide collection makes the figures Rs 769.89 crore. The film has been directed by Rajkumar Hirani and it chronicles the story of a humanoid alien (Khan) who comes to Earth on a research mission and befriends a journalist (Sharma) while trying to question religious dogmas and superstitions.

Dangal – Rs 2026.65 crore
Aamir Khan's sports drama Dangal tops the chart with its super collection of more than Rs 2000 crore. Dangal's domestic collections also stand at a whopping Rs 387.38 crore. Internationally, Dangal saw a public release in countries like Australia, China, New Zealand, the US and UK among others. The film also stars Zaira Wasim, Fatima Sana Shaikh and Sanya Malhotra in the roles of Aamir's daughters. Directed by Nitesh Tiwari and produced by Aamir himself, Dangal is loosely based on the Phogat family, narrating the story of Mahavir Singh Phogat, an amateur wrestler who trains his daughters Geeta and Babita to become India's first world-class female wrestlers.
