Composed by Amaal Mallik, Subah Subah, a new song from Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety movie is the young musician’s latest composition. The song which was released yesterday, features a happy melody that is young and flamboyant. Singer Prakriti Kakkar and Arijit Singh have been roped in to belt out the number, while the lyrics has been written by Kumaar.
The composition of the song is a mix of a few genres that were first introduced by the likes of Bob Sinclair and Yves Lerock, back in the early 2000s. This genre was on the brink of extinction since EDM and trap were taking over. Today’s artists like Thomas Jack, Kygo, The Chainsmokers etc have popularised this genre again and Amaal attempted to revive the same through Subah Subah. It’s a multi-genre track where one can hear traces of tropical house, deep house, dancehall with big room elements added to it. One would be reminded of Swedish House Mafia and Avicii while listening to the beats.
Talking about his first song with director Luv Ranjan, Amaal says, “A song is never the music composer’s vision alone. A vision and approach coming from the director, label and producer matters a lot. Luv sir’s ear for music and lyrics happen to be its highlight. After watching the way Pyaar Ka Punchnama 1 and 2 were treated by him, both visually and musically, there was always a wish to work with the man. I grew tired of sticking to a certain rulebook and a way of working in the past year and Luv sir is the man responsible to pull me out of the rut.”
Further commenting on his first release of the year, Amaal adds, “It is really going to be a special number, as it’s after four years that I’m collaborating with Arijit for such a track. It’s like a Sooraj Dooba Hai reunion for us. Prakriti has done a wonderful job on the female vocals. I’m glad I’m musically opening Bollywood’s innings in 2018 with something I personally believe will win the audience’s heart over.”
