There are few artists in contemporary music as mysterious as Frank Ocean. His songs and albums are released seemingly on a whim, sometimes weeks or years apart. In 2016, Ocean released two surprise albums—his first full records in four years. Then, last year, he released a handful of unannounced singles, including “Provider,” “Biking,” and “Chanel.”
Now, Ocean has shared a cryptic new image on his Tumblr that shows someone wearing a hat that reads “IF YOU LIKED 2017, YOU’LL LOVE 2018.” The caption says, “new 18-99.”
It's unclear what that means (did anyone actually enjoy 2017?), but this might have something to do with another hint Ocean dropped late last year. In November, he posted on his Tumblr, "WELL I️ MADE THE ALBUM BEFORE 30. I️ JUST AINT PUT THAT BITCH OUT!”
These clues would seemingly point to a new Frank Ocean album in 2018—but considering this is Frank Ocean, anything could happen. At least if Frank Ocean says 2018 will be better than 2017, we can expect a good year.
