Colombia's Ministry of ICT has approved an increase in spectrum caps for mobile operators. As a result, the cap on low bands increases by 15 MHz to a total of 45 MHz per operator, and by 5 MHz to a total of 90 MHz for high bands.

The measure was recommended by the National Spectrum Agency (ANE) in order to support competition in the sector ahead of the planned auction of frequencies in the 700 and 1,900 MHz bands. The auction process is expected to start in Q1 2017.
