Oman to mark its Environment Day on Jan 8

The sultanate represented by the Ministry of Environment and Climate Affairs (MECA) will celebrate Omani Environment Day on January 8. The event will be held under the theme ‘Sustainable Clean Environment’.

The celebration will be held at the Sultan Qaboos Youth Cultural and Entertainment Complex in Salalah. It will also include an operetta by traditional Omani artistes, plays, as well as a scientific symposium on environment issues. The programme will also see cleaning campaigns of beaches, coral reefs and valleys in the Governorate of Dhofar, as well as the planting of a range of wild and local saplings.
