RALEIGH, N.C. – Mr. Manny Regis Tejano Sr., former resident of Connecticut, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 28, 2017, at age 69. He was the husband of the late Dr. Alexine (Cosip) Tejano.

Mr. Tejano was born on Aug. 20, 1948, in Cebu City, Philippines, son of the late Benito and Ceferina (Regis) Tejano of the Philippines. In Cebu City, he obtained his bachelor’s degree in accounting from Colegio de San Jose Recoletos and became a certified public accountant.

After moving to California in 1975, he worked as the controller for H. Jack Gordon Inc. in Los Angeles for 14 years, until he moved with his family to Waterbury in 1989. While living in Connecticut, he became the office manager and accountant for the private medical practice of his beloved wife, Alexine, in Southington, until her untimely passing in 2004.

Later, he became revenue manager for Southwest Community Health Center in Bridgeport, where he received numerous recognitions, including being named Most Outstanding Employee and Employee of the Year. He retired this past October and moved to Raleigh, N.C., to be closer to his sons, daughter-in-law and granddaughter.

Mr. Tejano was a founding member and president of the Philippine-American Association of Greater Waterbury, a group that celebrated the cultural heritage of his Filipino family and friends. He was a devout Catholic, a snappy dresser, an avid dancer, a talented chef and a generous friend.

Mr. Tejano leaves behind two sons, Manny Gerard Tejano Jr. and his wife, Katherine (Pfohl) Tejano, both of Raleigh, and Dwight Alex Cosip Tejano, also of Raleigh; granddaughter, Olivia Tejano, of Raleigh; sister, Cesaria (Tejano) Lanaria of the Philippines; nephews, Eduardo Lanaria and Edwin Lanaria, both of the Philippines; niece, Jessica (Lanaria) Causing of El Monte, Calif.; and several other nephews, nieces and extended family.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. directly at the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, 74 W. Main St., Waterbury. Interment will take place at Cebu Memorial Park in Cebu City, Philippines. Calling hours are Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Chase Parkway Memorial/The Albini Family Funeral Home, 430 Chase Parkway, Waterbury.
