Taking a cue from Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, two departments, I and PR and ST and SC Development, Minorities and Backward Classes Welfare, made their social media and website feeds copyright-free from the New Year’s Day.
According to I and PR Principal Secretary Surendra Kumar, the website and social media feeds such as Facebook and Twitter of both these departments are now being licensed under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International.
This means all the contents on the website and social media accounts of the two departments are now free for public usage.
This includes photographs, videos, Government publications and much more.
It may be noted that January 1 each year is observed as the Public Domain Day with the aim of providing free access to information to general public.
The Chief Minister had already declared his own social media handles as well as CMO handles as copyright-free in the month of September 2017.
This helps everyone including students, media and common people to use the contents freely.
