Headmaster arrested on charge of rape bid

The headmaster of a primary school was arrested on charge of attempting to rape a student of the school in the town on Monday.

The accused is Rafiqul Islam, headmaster of Uttar Ganjapara Primary School, said police.

Locals said Rafiqul took a Class I schoolgirl to the office room of the school in the name of giving her new books in the afternoon.

The teacher attempted to rape the kid. Hearing screams, neighbours rushed to the spot and rescued the victim. They also caught the headmaster and handed him over to police.

The girl was sent to a hospital for medical test, said Officer-in-Charge of Khagrachhari Sadar Police Station Tareq Mohammad Abdul Hannan.

A case was filed in connection with the incident, said the OC.

The arrestee was produced before a court that sent him to jail yesterday, said the police official.
