PEORIA — A 46-year-old man was struck in the head Monday with a club that had a nail in it.
According to a report filed at the Peoria Police Department, officers went to the 700 block of East Maywood Avenue at about 6 p.m. on a report of a man "who had been stabbed in the head." When they arrived, they found the victim who was sitting in a house and appeared to be dazed.
According to the victim and two others who were at the home at the time of the attack, the victim was drinking with others when the victim mentioned he had gotten a "friend" request on Facebook from a person's ex-girlfriend. That person got angry and allegedly hit him in the head with what appeared to be a club that had a nail in it, according to the report.
The victim was taken by private car to the hospital where he was treated for a cut to the head. The witnesses said it appeared the assailant who hit the victim had used a wooden screwdriver but didn't mean to seriously hurt the victim. He was intoxicated and angry, they said to police.
Apparently, the victim had met his apparent attacker at a liquor store and brought him by the house to hang out, the report said. Even with the name, police could find little information about the person.
Police made no arrests Tuesday.
