While the Nintendo Switch games list has been pumped up significantly since launch in March, there’s still plenty more room for new releases in 2018.

And it appears that a number of new titles could be announced very soon.

A new Nintendo Switch games leak points to up to 18 new titles in the works for the console, which has already seen some critically acclaimed games make their debut in 2017.

This latest news comes from Amazon, which reportedly posted 18 unannounced Nintendo Switch games on its site.

This included placeholder prices and dates, ranging from normal retails costs, to up to $99.99.

These have now been taken down but also offered a little tidbit of information that points to a new Nintendo Direct happening soon.

The placeholder pages also apparently included the message “announced at the Switch event” meaning something could be coming soon.

This would also fit in nicely with a recent leak that suggested that a Nintendo Direct was being planned for January 11, 2018.

It’s been claimed that the Japanese gaming giant are preparing to reveal a Metroid Prime 4 trailer during the Nintendo Direct in January.

A Metroid Prime 4 trailer with gameplay footage will reportedly be debuted, which would certainly keep fans on the hook for 2018.

The claims tally up with another rumour, with it recently reported a leaked EA e-mail said a Nintendo Direct is coming in January 2018.

These rumours appeared along with reports that Metroid Prime 4 will be developed by Bandai Namco.

The first three Metroid Prime games were developed by Retro Studios.

Nintendo have yet to provide any information on a new Nintendo Direct taking place later this month, so it’s worth taking it all with a pinch of salt.

It follows news coming from the hacking community this week that suggests new homebrew software for the console is nearing completion.

Tech Radar are reporting that something new was shown off during a recent conference which could mean the rise of more widespread pirated games.

“A recent hacking conference in Germany saw a team of tinkerers take advantage of a quirk of the console's off-the-shelf Nvidia Tegra chip, allowing them to use a feature that Nvidia's own engineers and developers use to access deep-level functions of the chipset not usually accessible to the public,” the site reports.

This latest hack would reportedly require a Switch with firmware version 3.0, essentially keeping it offline.

According to the latest reports, physical copies of Pokken Tournament DX could be used as they include version 3.0 onboard and would also require the release of a new homebrew launcher.

Other Nintendo consoles have also seen homebrew launches, with both the 3DS and Wii U affected in the past with the practise.

Nintendo have taken extra measures with the Switch to try and avoid exploits being found before they are patched, offering rewards through White Hat incentives.
