FREEPORT — A 50-year-old woman was arrested after getting drunk on Christmas Day and pushing her niece.
According to an arrest report from the Walton County Sheriff’s Office, on Dec. 25 the aunt and niece, along with several family members, were celebrating Christmas at the home they shared when the aunt left the home to visit another family and then returned “visibly intoxicated.”
The woman was slurring her speech, leaning against objects, swaying, yelling profanities in front of kids and had a “strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from her.”
The aunt and niece then began arguing over what the aunt called “being disrespected.” During the argument, the niece tried to apologize to her aunt, at which point her aunt “pulled her hands back and pushed (her niece) with both hands against her chest.”
The woman was arrested and charged with misdemeanor battery.
