New Delhi: Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) which owns the iconic Lord’s ground could well sell the venue to build a multi-sport super stadium somewhere else.
According to Daily Mail UK, Victoria state governor Linda Dessau has suggested MCC to sell the Nursery Ground at Lord’s and build a new multi-sport stadium with the proceeds.

The report states that as per Sports Agenda’s recent plans, Lord’s is worth £2.5 billion for residential housing if sold in 25 parcels of land. The iconic pavilion and main pitch might stay for playing of low-key and ceremonial matches.
It is estimated that the new infrastructure for 45,000-seat multi-sport ground would cost around £1bn. Another £1bn left will be distributed among the MCC’s 18,000 members, who would each receive around £50,000.
