Man injured in northwest Calgary carjacking

Police are investigating after a carjacking incident in northwest Calgary left a man in the hospital.

Close to 12:30 p.m. on New Year’s Day, an adult male was confronted in his vehicle near the intersection of Chelsea St. and Rosewood Rd. N.W., police said Monday.

The man was assaulted and removed from his vehicle, which was then stolen. When EMS arrived at the scene, they determined the man was in life-threatening condition, according to police.

EMS later said the man suffered serious injuries, but was in stable and non-life-threatening condition. He was transported to Foothills Medical Centre shortly after the incident.

Police are continuing to investigate the incident.
