Fort Smith police identified a man found dead at a mini mall on Zero Street on Sunday as Josh Underwood, 48, of Fort Smith.
The death is being called “suspicious” by police. Underwood’s car was found in the 800 block of Garrison Avenue, nearly five miles away from where his body was located in front of Supercuts, 2700 Zero St., in sub-freezing temperatures. There were no witnesses and police are following leads, but there are so far no suspects in the death. There were visible injuries to the man's face, but they were not believed to have contributed to his death.
Cpl. Anthony Rice, Fort Smith Police Department’s public information officer, noted in an email that Underwood was seen in a convenience store at 31st and Zero Street around 5:30 a.m. Sunday. A Facebook page for Underwood shows he posted a positive review of Stonehouse at Chaffee Crossing on Saturday.
Underwood's Linkedin page shows he had been a senior therapeutic specialist for Gilead Sciences since 2009, and he graduated from University of the Ozarks in 2004 with a bachelor's in business administration and marketing. Gilead Sciences is a California-based biopharmaceutical company.
