BAKER — Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office is investigating an apparent murder-suicide at a home north of Baker.
The incident is believed to be a case of domestic violence, according to a press release from the OCSO.
The bodies were found at 2121 Winners Circle, which is a 5-acre parcel of land north of Baker. The parcel has a mobile home on it, according to property appraisers records.
The land was last sold in 1985 to William and Gretchen Rust, who were both in their 60s, according to public records searches.
The identity of the victims will not be confirmed until autopsies are completed, according to OCSO spokeswoman Nicole Wagner. The autopsies are scheduled for Wednesday.
Deputies were called to that address after a family member discovered the man and woman dead in the home about 1:30 p.m. New Year’s Day from apparent gunshot wounds. The pair had reportedly been arguing the previous day, according to the Sheriff's Office.
The call originally came in as a suicide, according to the call history report. The family member who found the bodies advised the dispatcher that they were both dead and was told to "back out of the house," the report said.
A chaplain was asked to respond to the scene and help the family members who discovered the bodies.
