Tot, baby showered with shattered glass after man smashes car window: police

BAYONNE -- A city man was arrested and charged with endangering the welfare of a child after he punched a car window, causing the shattered glass to hit two children in the rear seat, police said.

On Saturday at 3 p.m., police arrested Alejandro Galindo, 42, of Bayonne, after he punched the tail light and rear window of a 21-year-old victim's car, authorities said. The two men were known to each other, but police declined to say what precipitated the incident.

Glass from the rear window shattered and struck the children in the back seat, a 2-year-old and and a 3-month-old, but they were not injured, police said.

Galindo was charged with criminal mischief to auto and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, authorities said.
