Gene Ray Wigley, 81, of Hot Springs Village, Ark., passed away Dec. 24, 2017, peacefully at his home after a battle with cancer.
He was born in Memphis, Tenn., to John Oliver and Mary Juanita Wigley on Nov. 3, 1936.
He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother John, Jr. Survivors include his loving wife, Rita Timlin Wigley; two daughters, Melanie Landree and Shelley Jennings (Leon); grandchildren, Garrett, Brody, Sarah and Katie Jennings, Marlena Landree and Erica Edelson; special niece Nita Self (John) and three nephews.
Gene attended Christian Brothers High School and Christian Brothers University. He was a retired employee of the Department of Defense with 37 years of service.
Funeral Mass was celebrated Dec. 29, 2017, at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Hot Springs Village, Ark., with Father Bill Elser officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tenn., or to Arkansas Hospice in North Little Rock, AR.
