    The Supermoon that rose on January 1st is also called a Wolf Moon. The Supermoon is the first of two in 2018 both happening in January. The next and last chance to see one this year is on January 31st. A Supermoon is a full moon when it is approximately at its closest orbital point to Earth. This time lapse view is from Benfield Road in northeast Charlotte.

Charlotte Rescue Mission feeds over 1,000

The Charlotte Rescue Mission planned to serve over 1,000 meals on Christmas Day to anyone in need of a special holiday outing. Volunteers arrived early dressed in white shirts with black pants and tuxedo black bow ties ready to serve those in need.

For Christmas, child wanted toys for other kids

For this Christmas, 9-year-old Madelyn Huffman wanted toys – for kids at Levine Children's Hospital. She directed her request not to the North Pole, but to about 200 of her neighbors, using hand-drawn fliers placed in mailboxes. The neighbors responded, and the fourth-grader at River Gate Elementary collected nearly 100 toys including dolls, mini-cars and games. "I just like kids getting joy,” she said. “At our house, we get a lot of presents, but maybe not a lot of the kids in the hospital do.”
